Vivian Dianne Pittman McCoy

February 16, 1946- February 26, 2021

Mrs. Vivian Dianne McCoy, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 26, 2021.

Dianne was born on February 16, 1946 in Lancaster, South Carolina to Oscar Allen and Rosa Lee Pittman.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Sandra Kaye Gardner, and Daughter, Melissa Dawn Smith.

She graduated from Lancaster High School.  After graduation, Dianne joined the United States Army, attending Medic School at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.  While assigned to the Army Hospital in Kansas, she met her husband, William A. (Bill) McCoy.  They were wed on April 9, 1967 and would have been married for 54 years on April 9, 2021.  Dianne got out of the Army when Bill went to Vietnam and she attended Lancaster Community College, maintaining an A average in Licensed Practical Nursing School.  She quit LPN School when Bill returned from Vietnam and the Army sent them to Kansas again.

Bill and Dianne spent 20 years in the Army and retired to Fayetteville, NC in 1986 when Bill became a Cumberland County Deputy Sheriff.  Dianne was a faithful wife who stood by Bill for over 53 years from his initial service, employment with the Fayetteville Police Department, Army Service and 19 years with the Sheriff's Office.  Dianne also supported Bill in his Chaplain Ministeries in the Civilian Communities. Dianne took joy in making crafts and working with her hands, but her greatest interest was her relationship with Jesus and her family.

She is survived by her husband, William Andrew McCoy, son, James Allen McCoy, daughter-in-law, Renee, and grandchildren, Nikolas, Samantha, Alexandra, and Christopher.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at New Life Baptist Church, 6501 Camden Road, with the funeral service starting at 1 pm with Chaplain McCoy officiating. The committal interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park-West, 6701 Raeford Road (Across from Seventy-First High School).

REMEMRANCES AND CONDOLENCES

March 16, 2021 3:12 PM  As said by Loana Hunter Reynolds, I knew her as Vivian in high school.  Vivian would join in with a few other friends and me before class.  She was a very sweet girl.  Always with a smile. I am glad I made friends with Brother Bill McCoy on Facebook and got to talk on the phone once with Dianne.  She was the same sweet person then in spite of her painful illness.  Rest in peace, dear friend.  Deepest Sympathy to Bill, his son and their families.
